Where are the FAB FOUR??

Are the days are numbered now ?? can we call it the end of an ERA in Indian Cricket??Will the FAB four hang up their cricket kit?

Around 2 decades back there was a kid who entered the Indian Cricket as the youngest player to be playing at the international level. He had talent.. he had the dedication and above all the passion. He went on to prove that he was one of the best player in the game of cricket. His records speak for himself now. Having gone through rough patches.. having gone under the scanner a few times.. having people raise their finger on him... he silenced each one of them through his unforgettable performances. His service to Indian Cricket is unmatched till date. the name is Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, Rated as the best batsman in the contemporary cricket.
About 8 years after this great cricketer has made his debut, Two more players had a chance to prove the world they are not far behind. they grabbed it with whatever they could and made a mark at the international arena, Rahul Dravid and Saurav Ganguly. Then joined VVS Lakshman whose Innings against Autralia, which won the tournament for India will stay as one of the best performaces i have witnessed. No batsman can match his classy strokes.

Each of these players continued to showcase their talent and class and With great records behind them each one proved to be one of the best.

With experience behind them but time running out, body starting to wear out as it is said, how long will each of them stick around and continue to play for their country? I guess they can answer it better than anyone else.

Sometimes i feel we are being unfair towards them in asking them to make way for the youngsters. True in a sense, but how many youngsters today can match their talent?
The question is - did each of these fab 4 cry and asked others to may way for them?
They did it and they did it with class. They proved they are worthy of a place in the team and they proved they were the best.
I say why not the youngsters today instead of crying just prove their worth, grab every opportunity they get and prove that they are really the future of Indian cricket.

This is something we will have to wait and watch but i would like to Salute the Fab four for their contribution and dedication. I will miss each minute and each second i have watched them play and enjoyed it. Sachin's Straigh drive, Dravid's Cover drives, Saurav's off side shots and VVS's classy strokes - Will be missed by billions of people around the world.

  2. The Fab-4 will remain the Fab-4... Each one is a gem. Opposition's envy; team's pride...
They have been great servants of Indian cricket over a decade. They share around a whopping 75000 international runs (35011 test + 40647 ODI runs) with 173 centuries (91 tests + 82 ODI). They have figured, masterminded and guided many of Indian victories, particularly the foreign test victories in the past few years. They revolutionized Indian cricket. The 281 of VVS Laxman was probably the defining moment in Indian cricket. Add to this, a name called Anil Kumble. Highest wicket taker for India in both forms of cricket - 953 sticks (616 in tests and 337 ODI), only the 2nd ever bowler to have taken 10 wkts in an innings, a respected but extremely fierce competitor.
It is mindless to say that youngsters are now ready to fill in such enormous boots. I know age is supposedly catching up and their forms are slumping. But what I would crave to see is a respectable exit to the legends. With 3 of the Fab-four's ODI career as good as over (dada being constantly neglected although he's been performing), we are just praying that sachin stays out of injury and plays out all the possible matches before he is too sidelined. With dada being dropped for the Irani trophy and selectors sending out the message of "Perform or perish" to the seniors (kumble included), it is really sad indeed that the era looks like coming to an end.
But as I said, all I request is a respectable exit which these legends of Indian cricket very richly deserve.
